Access to justice support for victims/survivors.
In Nigeria, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) is on a spiraling rise. Among the many reasons for its alarming rise is the lack of access to justice for the victims or survivors of these heinous crimes. As a result, many perpetrators are allowed to go scot-free. Therefore, rather than a criminal justice system that punishes the perpetrators and serves as a deterrent to other potential violators, there’s a seeming reward system that allows them to go unscathed. This is a primary reason for the alarming rate of SGBV, which according to UNICEF (2015) report says one in three girls gets abused before her eighteen birthday in Nigeria. So, to enable us to get justice for the swelling population of victims, survivors, and their families, our organization needs your support.
Psychotherapy and psychosocial support for survivors and their families.
Whereas it is 5 minutes of pleasure for perpetrators of rape and other sexual crimes, it is a lifetime of trauma for the victims (survivors) Many times, the victims suffer profoundly and find it difficult to find themselves again. The only chance at a second chance at life is possible with the provision of psychotherapy and psychosocial support for them. Psychotherapists’ and other psychosocial care providers’ charges don’t come cheap. So, even when the families of victims desire it, they cannot afford same. To help our organization secure these services for victims, kindly support us.
Rehabilitation, Reintegration, and Empowerment.
To help victims of rape and other sexual violence begin anew, we need to rehabilitate, reintegrate and empower them.
